The Wisconsin Association of Peer Providers was established to create educational and networking opportunities, support, continuing education and advocacy to all stakeholders in the Peer Professional/formal Peer Support movement in  Wisconsin.  Members support the mission, vision and value statements of this organization which are described on the "About Us" page of this website.  This Association is one of the statewide consumer run agencies in Wisconsin.

The Association definition of a Peer Professional is a person with a disorder, working with others with the disorder, that has had formal training in their area of expertise.
 
 
 
THERE ARE ONLY A FEW SIMPLE MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN:
 

      1.  You must be 18 years of age or older to become a member

      2.  You must be trained and/or doing work as a peer support with someone with  

           the lived experience of mental illness, AODA or other health/life issues (that 

           could include consumer,family member, advocate, professional, etc.) or                     an agency/community member that supports the mission of the Association.

      3.  You must complete, sign, date and submit an application

      4.  You must pay annual membership dues (membership year runs from January


 

 

THERE ARE FOUR LEVELS OF MEMBERSHIPS AVAILABLE:

 

  1.  Low Income - This membership is designed for those Peer Professionals  

           desiring membership with very limited income sources (ie: SSI, SSDI,

           part-time minimum wage earners, etc.)  We ask that you utilize this

           membership in the spirit in which it is offered and in compliance with the

           currently published Codes of Conduct which endorse ethics and honesty. 

           The cost of this level of membership is $5.00, subject to annual review.
           Membership benefits with the exclusion  of direct forum posting included.               Entitles the member to one vote at the Annual meeting.


 

      2.  Regular - This membership is designed for employed Peer Professionals.                  The cost of this level of membership s $15.00 subject to annual review. Full    

            membership benefits.  This level entitles member to one vote at the Annual 

            meeting.

           

 

      3.  Professional - This membership is designed for the Professional who is 

           working in  an agency full-time (licensed clinical social workers, supervisors,

           administrators, case managers, service facilitators, etc.)  The cost of this 
          membership is $25.00 subject to annual review and includes all membership

          benefits. Entitles the member to one vote at the Annual meeting.  

 

       4. Agency - This an organizational membership for agencies/organizations 

           interested in utilizing peer supports and Peer Specialists in their services or

           supporting the profession of Peer Provider and the principles of the evidence
           based model of peer support in mental health/AODA/health services.This                  level of membership is $50.00, subject to annual review. Includes all              
           benefits.  It entitles the Agency to one vote, but its designated member

           at the Annual meeting.  Each agency attendee of events must pay separate

           registration.

            Inc. and the quarterly newsletter of the International Association of Peer

            Specialists

         

        3.  Regular updates on training/education opportunities around the state and

             nation

 

        4.  Educational opportunities to apply to Peer Providers  (CCS Peer   
             Specialist/Recovery Coach/Family Peer Specialist, Community Recovery

             Services and other Peer Support positions)


5.  Improved standards of practice

          7.  Google Discussion Forum - with posting capability for members

 

         8.  Resume assistance

 

         9.  Access to a statewide mentoring/advocacy network in Wisconsin

        13. Meaningful voice and representation at the state and national level 
             regarding policies and procedures, etc. pertaining to the professions of Peer
